Rio Americano High School
Paving
Project Overview
The scope of work for this project included:
This project was a $640,000+ contract to be completed during the summer months while school was out. The Contractor accelerated their schedule and tried pouring all three courtyards in one day, not allowing enough manpower to follow behind and complete the finish before the concrete began to set and dry. Thus resulting in cracks due to missing expansion joints and un-repairable broom finish, causing the District to reject the work and requiring the Contractor to replace all three courtyards. By taking over 400 photos and collecting samples of the rejected concrete, ICS was able to document and demonstrate that the Contractor's work did not meet industry standards, therefore backing up the District's rejection of the work. ICS' CM was in the field all day, every day during the repair, and throughout the completion of the project for the opening day of school and did not cost the District a substantial amount of monies in claims, mediation, or litigation. |
Completion Date: June 2009
